Tumeric. One of those woo woo miracle spices often food in Indian cuisine, considered sacred in many cultures and full of healing properties. There is no shortage of studies on this subject. When I lived in India, I ate a LOT of it. Now that I'm back in the states, I definitely have to be more intentional about getting tumeric into my diet. According to these studies and Dr. Axe, tumeric has many health benefits that can even outweigh their prescription drug counterparts. Curcumin, the active compound found in tumeric is often used in leu of treatment for the following:

  • Inflammation
  • Arthritis
  • Depression
  • Diabetes
  • Skin Issues
  • Obesity
  • Pain-Killers

+ more!

Bottom line, it doesn't hurt to supplement with tumeric (good quality, as always). I like to think of this recipe as a fountain of youth elixir (hahah) since it's full of healthy fats, healing herbs and collagen. The combination of these ingredients is truly a recipe for stronger, healthier hair, nails, skin and immunity. And for an extra little boost, I added in a wee bit of maca powder which has mannnnny benefits like enhancing performance, energy, stamina, SEX DRIVE (yep, sneak it in your partner's smoothie, winky winky), increasing fertility, balancing hormones. Good stuff! As I always say, #getonboard. Word of warning: this stuff stains so be careful.
